Entries that hold up
Date, hours, project, billable, note — thirty seconds, or a running timer. Each billable entry copies the person's rate at that moment, so changing a rate never rewrites a week you already stood behind.
Log time against projects and clients — a timer if you like, a number if you don't. Submit the week; a manager approves or returns it, and approved weeks are locked history. Billable hours carry their rate from the day they were logged and roll up into the numbers an invoice starts from.

Sample week
Every number the billing conversation needs is computed from entries people actually made.
Date, hours, project, billable, note — thirty seconds, or a running timer. Each billable entry copies the person's rate at that moment, so changing a rate never rewrites a week you already stood behind.
Submit the week and it locks; a manager approves it or returns it with a reason. The approval trail is the audit trail — no quiet edits to hours anyone gets paid or billed on.
Totals by project, client or person for any range, billable and not, in hours and dollars. In the Invoice app, these are the lines an invoice starts from.
Against a project and client when there is one; plain internal time when there isn't.
One click on Friday. A returned week comes back with the reason and resubmits in place.
Billable totals by client, at the rates that were true when the work happened.
Time entries are visible to the person who logged them and the organization's managers — never outside the organization, never mined by us. Rates are compensation-adjacent, so they travel only to managers and the person themself. There is no screenshotting, no activity monitoring, no keystroke anything: the record is what people wrote down, which is the point.

Ask about TimeNo — Shifts schedules an organization's shift coverage with a station timeclock; Time tracks a business's hours against projects and clients for billing and payroll conversations. Same account, different jobs.
Not silently. An approved week has to be returned — with the action on the record — before anything on it can change. That protects both directions of the conversation.
Each billable entry carries an hourly rate, defaulted from the person's rate at the moment it was logged and overridable per entry. Reports multiply honestly and round to the cent — and an old week never changes when a rate does.
No. No screenshots, no activity tracking, no idle detection. People write down their hours; managers approve them. Trust plus a paper trail beats surveillance.
Yes — the Invoice app pulls unbilled approved time straight onto an invoice, at the rates each entry carried, and stamps the entries so nothing bills twice.
