Priv Life Terms of Use
Effective date: September 3, 2026 Last updated: September 13, 2026. Privstead is now called Priv Life, and the apps have moved to priv-life.com. The terms themselves have not changed. Operator: DGDean, Ocala, Florida, United States Contact: support@dgdean.com
These terms cover every app under priv-life.com. By creating an account or using an app you agree to them and to the Priv Life Privacy Policy at https://priv-life.com/privacy.
1. What Priv Life is
Priv Life is a suite of small, private apps run by DGDean:
- Budget links your bank accounts through Plaid, imports transactions, and tracks spending, budgets, net worth and a retirement projection. It is for individuals and households, not organizations.
- Vote runs elections for organizations. Members vote once, turnout is visible to the organization, and no one can see how anyone voted.
We may add apps over time. These terms apply to them too.
2. Accounts and eligibility
You must be at least 18 and able to enter a binding agreement. You need one Priv Life account, which works across every app. Keep your sign-in details to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us promptly at support@dgdean.com if you believe someone else has used it.
3. Your data is yours
You own the data you put into Priv Life and the data imported on your behalf. We hold it only to run the apps for you. We claim no rights in it beyond what is needed to store, display and process it as the apps do. You can export it and delete it as described in the Privacy Policy.
4. Plaid
Linking a bank in Budget uses Plaid. You enter your bank credentials with Plaid, not with us. By linking a bank you agree to Plaid's End User Privacy Policy at https://plaid.com/legal/#end-user-privacy-policy, and you authorize Plaid to retrieve your account and transaction data and share it with Priv Life. You can revoke that authorization at any time in the app or through Plaid Portal at https://my.plaid.com.
We do not control your bank or Plaid, and we cannot guarantee that a given bank can be linked or that imported data is complete or current.
5. Vote
- Organizations are created and run by their own admins. Admins are responsible for the accuracy of the member roster, for who is admitted, for what appears on a ballot, and for entering paper ballots faithfully.
- Results reported by Vote are a count of the ballots cast. Whether an election is valid, binding or properly conducted is decided by the organization's own bylaws and rules, not by us.
- Admins may use member names and emails only to run the organization's elections and membership.
- Elections cannot be reopened after they close. Deleting an election deletes its ballots.
6. Acceptable use
Do not:
- use an account, bank connection or organization that is not yours or that you are not authorized to use;
- try to see another user's data, another member's ballot, or an organization you do not belong to;
- vote more than once, or help anyone else do so;
- probe, scan, overload or interfere with the service;
- upload anything unlawful or malicious;
- resell the service or use it to provide a service to others without our written agreement.
We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules.
7. Budget is not financial advice
Budget shows you your own figures and projections you configure. It is not financial, tax, investment or legal advice, and its projections are arithmetic on the assumptions you enter, not predictions. Check important figures against your bank and consult a professional before making financial decisions.
8. Availability
Priv Life is run by one person and offered without a service level agreement. We aim to keep it available and to fix problems quickly, but it may be down, slow, or changed without notice. Keep your own copies of anything you cannot afford to lose; the Export CSV button exists for that.
9. Fees
Priv Life is free to use today. If we introduce paid features we will say so in advance and nothing you already have will be taken away without notice.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
The service is provided as is and as available. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and uninterrupted operation.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, DGDean is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data or goodwill, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim and one hundred US dollars. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, in which case they apply to the extent permitted.
12. Ending your account
You can close your account at any time by emailing support@dgdean.com; the Privacy Policy explains what is deleted. We may close accounts that break these terms or that have been inactive for 24 months, after emailing you first. Sections 3, 7, 10, 11 and 13 survive closure.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to conflict of law rules. Disputes will be brought in the courts of Marion County, Florida, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
14. Changes
We may update these terms. We will post the new version with a new effective date and, for material changes, tell you in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept them.
